Busy cooking

The kale chips looked so yummy when they were ready.
We ate them up so quickly that there were no photos of the chips!

The carrots were looking ready to harvest. Yeryeong had brought some Korean rice and vege balls for lunch one day and she and Lucy thought it would be a good idea for us to use the carrots to make this dish in class. We were lucky that Yeryeong brought her recipe that we could use to make these in class. They were delicious! Thank you Yeryeong!

Vegetables like the kale and the spinach are ready to cook and eat. Planting day!

Monday of Matariki was our planting day and we were lucky it was such a sunny day and also we had Cate and a parent helper to assist the children. We bought a variety of vegetable seedlings including kale, spinach, bok choi, purple and green broccoli, red cabbage and celery. The children really enjoyed digging in the soil, putting the plants in and then watering. It wasn't so lucky that there have been frosts since - we have hurriedly collected plastic bottles to put over the plants to protect them.
