Planting day!
Monday of Matariki was our planting day and we were lucky it was such a sunny day and also we had Cate and a parent helper to assist the children. We bought a variety of vegetable seedlings including kale, spinach, bok choi, purple and green broccoli, red cabbage and celery. The children really enjoyed digging in the soil, putting the plants in and then watering. It wasn't so lucky that there have been frosts since - we have hurriedly collected plastic bottles to put over the plants to protect them.

Preparing our Garden
Today we prepared our vegetable garden by adding sheep pellets to the soil and mixing them in. We were excited to see so many worms in the soil and can't wait to plant our vegetables next week.
