Monday of Matariki was our planting day and we were lucky it was such a sunny day and also we had Cate and a parent helper to assist the children. We bought a variety of vegetable seedlings including kale, spinach, bok choi, purple and green broccoli, red cabbage and celery. The children really enjoyed digging in the soil, putting the plants in and then watering. It wasn't so lucky that there have been frosts since - we have hurriedly collected plastic bottles to put over the plants to protect them.
Last Friday the Year 2's visited East Tamaki School to learn about gardening. They showed us how to turn over the soil and add fertiliser to make healthy soil that makes healthy vegetables that makes healthy us! They have amazing gardens growing lots of different vegetables!
